Content Policy

This Content Policy describes the types of content allowed on FoodLakayNJ, how content is reviewed, and what happens when content violates our rules. It works alongside our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
Where content is created
- Profiles: display name, bio, profile photo.
- Community feed: text posts, photo posts, video uploads, YouTube/TikTok embeds, hashtags, and titles.
- Comments: on community posts, videos, blog articles, and events.
- Reviews: ratings and text reviews on business listings.
- Business listings: name, contact info, hours, menus, photos, descriptions.
Allowed content
- Authentic photos and videos of Haitian food, restaurants, events, and culture.
- Honest reviews and recommendations.
- Recipes, cooking tips, and food stories.
- Event announcements for Haitian food pop-ups, festivals, and gatherings in NJ.
- Constructive discussion and questions about Haitian cuisine and businesses.
Prohibited content
- Illegal content, or content that promotes illegal activity.
- Hate speech, slurs, harassment, threats, or content targeting protected groups.
- Sexually explicit content, nudity, or content that sexualizes minors in any way.
- Graphic violence, gore, or self-harm.
- Personal information about others without consent (doxxing).
- Spam, scams, phishing, malware, or deceptive links.
- Fake reviews, incentivized reviews, review trading, or review manipulation.
- Impersonation of people, businesses, or FoodLakayNJ staff.
- Copyrighted material posted without permission.
- Off-topic content unrelated to Haitian food, NJ food businesses, or the community.
Moderation approach
We use a mixed-moderation system:
- Text reviews: auto-publish, then reviewed if flagged.
- Photos, videos, community-feed posts, comments containing media, and profile content: require admin approval before they appear.
- Business submissions & claims: reviewed by admins before going live.
Authentication is required for all user-generated content (posting, commenting, uploading media, saving, following, claiming listings).
Account & content actions
When content violates this Policy, we may:
- Remove or hide the content.
- Mark posts as expired or rejected.
- Suspend posting, commenting, liking, following, or other interactions for a defined period.
- Permanently ban accounts for repeat or severe violations.
- Delist or remove business listings.
FoodLakayNJ reserves the right to remove any content at any time, with or without notice, when we believe it violates this Policy, the Terms, or applicable law.
User-generated content (UGC) terms
- You own Your Content; you grant FoodLakayNJ a license to display, host, and promote it on the Service (see Terms of Use § 4).
- Don't post content you don't have the rights to share.
- Removed content may persist in backups for a limited period before permanent deletion.

Appeals
If you believe content was removed or your account was actioned in error, contact us and we'll review the decision.
